Full Job Description
The Urogynaecology unit at Royal Derby Hospital site comprises of 3 consultants and 2 specialist nurses, there is also a team at Queens Hospital Burton. Both the units are BSUG accredited and regularly submit their data to the BSUG database with excellent secretarial support. RDH site provides a tertiary care Urogynaecology service, with referrals from neighbouring trusts and performing laparoscopic Urogynaecology procedures (about 25 cases of lap Colposuspension and 10 Sacro colpopexies per year), and Autologous Fascial Slings (10 per year). This unit performs a huge number of different reconstructive vaginal surgeries (around 300) for prolapse, including sacrospinous fixation; Injectables (BOTOX and urethral bulking agent) for DO and SUI, joint operative work with colorectal surgeons and urologists if required and agreed through MDT meetings. ICIQ validated questionnaires are always collected pre and post operatively and submitted to audit database. The unit has got several projects ready to undertake once the successful candidate is in post. Our commitment to continuing education & training is demonstrated by the development of the multi-disciplinary purpose-built Education Centre; that has brought together the latest facilities & teaching techniques under one roof & helps to strengthen our academic links., The post holder will undertake clinical sessions with duties within Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as Emergency/On-call in Gynaecology and Obstetrics. When on call during the daytime, the post holder will be included in the SpR on call rota covering Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The post holder will also participate in an emergency OOHs shift rota.
