Research Fellow ( Internal Only )

The School of Health and Psychological Sciences is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to work closely with the Executive Dean and the Associate Dean for Education and Student Experience to coordinate, develop and evaluate research focused on understanding how social factors impact on health students' capacity to study within undergraduate professional programmes. The research aims to explore the effectiveness of interventions that identify students at risk of early withdrawal from their studies and potential interventions that support their continuation. The postholder will be central to this research activity

The main responsibility of the post-holder is to develop and implement evaluations connected to student continuation and student health and well-being. This will include coordinating project activities, liaising and collaborating with internal and external partners, reviewing and synthesizing relevant academic literature, project planning and coordination, research data collection, analysis and dissemination of findings to a range of stakeholders.

The successful Research Fellow must have a PhD in a relevant topic related to public health, education or psychology. They will have knowledge of student experience in HEI settings and knowledge of research methods related to public health research. They will be experienced in qualitative and quantitative methods, used to working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and have experience of working with/in low-income communities and/or have demonstrated commitment to addressing health inequalities. With excellent ability to work independently and as part of a team, they should have excellent planning, organisation and communication skills, and work well independently and as part of a team.
