Full Job Description
This position will provide specialist technical support and oversee research activity in the laboratory, including maintaining and curating large tissue sample collections, establishing molecular protocols, interacting with collaborators to oversee logistics and regulatory documentation associated with sample collection and shipment, contributing towards ensuring that safety regulations are followed, and assisting other team members with research projects. The successful applicant will be a highly trained molecular biologist with a university degree in molecular biology or a related discipline, and with extensive experience in techniques including tissue preservation and disruption, DNA and RNA extraction and quantification, long-range PCR, quantitative PCR and sequencing library preparation, as well as tasks including laboratory management, project coordination, maintenance of large tissue and DNA sample databases, interaction with international courier companies, and proactive
communication with international collaborators.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
Please note: The University is unable to issue sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Visa route for this role as it does not meet the minimum salary requirements.
