Full Job Description

Research Manager Collection Projects and Resources Part-time (11 hours a week as part of a job share) Fixed term until 30 June 2025 £34,713 pro rata Application deadline: 12pm (midday) on Friday, 4 October 2024 About the role: The Postholder will be responsible for the Project management and financial administration of internally- and externally funded research projects across the full project cycle (design, fund, report, deposit). Key areas of responsibility:

  • Support the development of research funding applications, advising on content, resource and budget requirements.
  • Provide guidance to curatorial and research staff throughout the research project lifecycle and quality control of research items for deposit.
  • Work as part of a team focussed on raising research quality and delivering, monitoring and reporting on the Museum's research programme in line with the Research Strategy and Operating Plan.
  • Work with project leads and researchers to co-ordinate project budgets and reporting, ensuring that reports are delivered to funders in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of research funding opportunities and programmes relevant to the Museum in order to provide staff with advice, guidance and support.
  • Liaise with Research Managers in other organisations and facilitate staff skills development and the sharing of good practice to increase the Museum's research capability.
  • Manage risks, issues and quality associated with research projects.

    Experience of funding bid preparation, submission processes and reporting.
  • An ability to interpret and communicate relevant information from complex funding and strategy documentation for different audiences.
  • Experience of relationship building and management of collaborative research partnerships: individuals, organisations or networks.
  • Confident user of ICT, particularly an understanding of research information management and grant submission systems.
  • Experience of managing complex research projects.
  • Experience of financial administration.
  • Research management or research funding, for example within higher education, an independent research organisation (IRO).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively across disciplines to support activities as part of a team.
  • Articulate, persuasive, flexible communicator
