Full Job Description
To provide nursing support for an wide range range of clinical research studies studies in orthopaedics and rheumatology which are on the National Institute for Health Research portfolio, including the screening, assessment, coordination and recruitment of patients into clinical studies. The post will be flexible, working in a team of research nurses based at the NOC but also on occasion, covering other OUH hospital sites., Provide nursing support support new studies or existing studies according to the required workload.
Work flexibly in the team to make best use of their time, planning and organising patient visits.
Clinical procedures include administration of study drug; venepuncture; height and weight measures, history taking and study specific examinations; and ensuring that the labelling, processing and storage of biological samples meets the necessary requirements of the research protocol in order to make certain that safe handling and quality is assured.
The role includes collating data, reviewing NHS case records and ensuring patient suitability according to study entry criteria;
Maintaining effective communication with research subjects and other members of the multidisciplinary/research team;
Providing ongoing advice and information to study participants and where indicated in a protocol, obtain informed consent on behalf of the Principal Investigator of each study, in order to facilitate effective informed consent.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Research Nurse to join our team of research nurses working within a multidisciplinary team in The Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences and based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital Oxford. We have two vacancies one full time and one part time, Band 5 or 6 depending on experience. The department covers a wide remit of research with a focus on Rheumatology and Orthopaedics. You will have an interest in research and the enthusiasm to learn new skills.
