Full Job Description
Do you want to improve the life and the treatment of patients with respiratory conditions? We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Research Nurse Manager to lead our research delivery team. Come and work with our research nurses and practitioners to deliver a portfolio of trials across a broad spectrum of respiratory diseases. You will work in the Oxford Respiratory Trials Unit (ORTU) and be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team and driving the strategic growth and development of the team. In addition to leading the team, you will work clinically, supporting recruitment and participant visits for a portfolio of trials. The trials being delivered by the team includes observational studies, clinical trials of investigational medicinal products (CTIMPs) and medical device trials.
Applicants should have a UK recognised first level degree (HEI Level 6) in Nursing or specialist nursing field as well as experience of nurse leadership, management and multidisciplinary working. You will also need to demonstrate that you have:
- An ability to work independently and without direct supervision and also as part of a team with a broad range of people.
- An ability to problem solve in the context of research projects.
- The ability to prioritise and manage own workload and others.
- An ability to evaluate policies and strategies and influence research projects undertaken at ORTU/OUHFT.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the regulatory and governance requirements for clinical trials.
- An understanding of UK CRN and its relevance to research.
- Experience of managing budgets.
- Experience of clinical research management at senior level. Having knowledge and previous experience of nursing patients with respiratory disorders would be a desirable attribute for this post.

The Oxford Respiratory Trials Unit (ORTU) is a Clinical Trials Unit which specialises in the design, delivery and administration of trials across the scope of Respiratory Medicine. We run national and international trials related to our own academic areas, as well as supporting trials led by other teams. Our scope of work includes clinical trials at all phases, including translational studies, phase II discovery studies and multicentre definitive randomised trials.
