We currently have an exciting opportunity for a fermentationscientist to join the Fermentation Team within the Biotechnology R&TGroup. Based in the purpose-built laboratories at the Daresbury SciencePark, your role will be to support the development and scale-up of Crodasrapidly expanding Biotechnology pipeline. Candidates should have relevant experience in developing andscaling upstream microbial processes from either laboratory and/or pilot plantscale, in the food, pharma or industrial biotechnology sectors. Youshould have the fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge of theprinciples of microbial cell culture to develop and scale upstream fermentationprocesses. You will be expected to work closely with our internalproduction team(s) and our external toll partners to undertake efficienttechnology transfer to establish these processes at an industrial scale.You will also be expected to work closely with our commercial, IP, regulatory,application, and sales and marketing teams to ensure the processes areefficiently developed and established into commercial-scale manufacture.

  • Master or preferably a higher degree with experience in microbiology, biotechnology or chemical engineering discipline
  • Experience in developing scalable microbial cell culture processes in a laboratory, pilot plant and/or production environment
  • You will have strong communication and networking skills.
  • Desirables:
  • Hands-on experience using a wide range of microbial systems comprising of more than one bacterial, fungal and yeast processes
  • Experience in development and/or scale-up of downstream process at laboratory and/or pilot scale
  • Experience in transferring bioprocesses to industrial plants
