Full Job Description

This role is for a Research Scientist to work in the Early Career Development Programme, providing high quality experimental work in the development, analytical assessment and characterisation areas of biotherapeutics. The main accountabilities of this role include:

  • Implement of the experimental programmes needed to develop, evaluate and characterise processes for target molecules
  • Accurately recording the experiments performed and ensure full documentation compliance with PD quality procedures
  • Be aware that there are specific requirements when transferring technology across sites and departments
  • Contribute to/ write protocols, reports and presentations for internal and external use
  • To support the project lead in interacting with other departments as part of a multi-functional team
  • Supports the training and development of colleagues using scientific experience
  • To support project lead when presenting to / discussing project with the project team or customer

    The candidate must have a Scientific Degree (preferably Biological Sciences based or similar)
  • Grade C or above in GCSE English and Mathematics
  • Experience of working in a laboratory environment, preferably in a biotech/pharmaceutical industry setting
  • Experience working safely and in accordance with local Safety, Health and Environmental polices (SHE) and COSHH
  • Experience working with others from multiple disciplines and experience of writing Lab books
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • The ideal candidate should have the ability to perform calculations associated with laboratory tasks and be able to effectively prioritise and execute experimental activities with a project team
  • It is desirable to have knowledge of multiple techniques (upstream, downstream, analytical) associated with the development of biologics. This role may require the candidate to work at any FDBK site
