The Audio team's mission is to create virtual sounds that are perceptually indistinguishable from reality and redefine human hearing. If you are excited by working on this ambitious goal, then keep reading further!We are seeking an exceptional Audio Research Scientist to join Reality Labs Research Audio team and develop next generation spatial audio coding algorithms in order to bring new and complex spatial audio experiences to Meta users across the Metaverse, 1. Conduct research, design, develop and prototype novel algorithms and signal processing techniques to solve complex problems at the intersection between spatial audio coding, audio signal processing and audio perception with applications in VR and AR.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and user experience, to develop and implement new audio technologies.
3. Develop and maintain technical roadmaps for audio research and development.
4. Communicate research results and technical plans to stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences.
5. Collaborate with teams in the larger Reality Labs organisation and provide creative leadership on cross-team technologies.

6. PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Acoustics, or a related technical field.
7. 3+ years of experience in audio research and development, including experience with spatial audio, audio coding, audio processing, and audio perception.
8. Experience with programming languages such as C++, Python, or MATLAB.
9. Demonstrated experience designing, executing and analyzing perceptual studies to evaluate audio performance.
10. Deep understanding of audio signal processing, acoustics, and psychoacoustics., 11. Proven track record of successfully maturing innovative technology in industry or similar environment.
12. Experience with spatial audio capture algorithms, including signal dependent and independent approaches.
13. Experience with spatial audio mixing formats such as channel based (e.g. 5.1/7.1), object based (e.g. Dolby Atmos), and soundfield (e.g. ambisonic) representations.
14. Experience utilizing any linear and interactive audio mixing tools.
15. Experience with development of virtual and augmented reality audio applications.
16. Strong publication record in top-tier conferences and journals in the field of audio research.
