The role is full-time, based in our Central London office, and involves travelling to customer sites in Europe and North America. The exact specification will depend on your skills and interests, but will involve one of or more of: data science and modelling research, full stack engineering, and forward deployed engineering.
1. You will be part of our cross functional development team, working collaboratively to identify and solve real world problems.
+ An example project might include a data driven project proposal, building a spatial crane tracking system, and integrating with idiosyncratic data feeds.
+ You would contribute to this work where you are best able depending on the company's need.
2. You will implement our product at new customer sites.
+ This includes spending time on the shop floor at manufacturing facilities, scoping out customer requirements and using this understanding to help the team to improve and expand our products.
+ An example project might include modifying our modelling approaches, writing data integrations and other pipelines, or working with our designer to modify the user experience.
3. You will be empowered to make meaningful decisions that are not limited by job domains or onerous processes.
+ In the office, you will spend the majority of your time writing code that you think is most important for the company to achieve its objectives.
+ During site visits you will think on your feet and make independent technical and commercial decisions.

We use Python as our primary programming language and strongly believe in the value of open source software. Our current tech stack includes: GCP, k8s, postgres, BigQuery, dbt.,

• Contributions to solving technical problems at a startup, or in making improvements over the state-of-the-art in a technical field.


• Contributions to open source software that is valued and used by a community of developers or other users.


• Performance in programming, mathematics, or science competitions.


• Evidence of the general attributes we are looking for in the form of extra-curricular, unconventional, or non-technical projects.
  
  No specific experience with Python (or steel) is required - we are looking to hire talented engineers and teach them what they need to know. We are open minded about professional experience and University qualifications. That said, we do expect:


• Developed research and/or engineering skills.


• Travelling and working directly with customers in steel plants around the world is something that excites you.


• You have a passion for solving difficult technical problems using software.


• You enjoy being part of a team. You are willing and able to explain your reasoning to others.


• You take initiative and are extremely reliable. You are comfortable with and enjoy having significant autonomy, including self-direction.


• You are conscientious and pragmatic. You complete projects.


• Language skills are an advantage. Particularly German or French.

Total compensation is £50k - £150k and is composed of salary and stock options. We are open to a wide range of experience so the range of total compensation reflects that.
