The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2024/2025 and will be implemented in November 2024 backdated to 1st April 2024 where applicable., Research Radiographer based in The South West Wales Cancer Centre.
The radiotherapy department a fleet of 4 matched linacs with SGRT
Staff employed in Radiotherapy within the South West Wales Cancer Centre have the opportunity to work within a department that has had recent significant investment.
This has given the department 4 matched Linear Accelerators, 3 of which have SGRT with a 4^th coming on line summer 2023. We have a CTSIM with Sentinel, and a number of advanced practice opportunities.
We work closely with our colleagues in Radiotherapy Physics and our medical colleagues with regular MDT input., We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated therapeutic radiographer with an interest in clinical research to join us at the South West Wales Cancer Centre based at Singleton Hospital, Swansea.
This exciting Band 6 radiographer role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work within the Radiotherapy Department and support the expanding portfolio of radiotherapy research as part of the Cancer Research trials team.
This is a split post with part of the role based in the Radiotherapy Department working as part of the Radiotherapy treatment delivery team. The post holder will rotate through the departments site specific treatment units to maintain entitlements. This will ensure up to date knowledge of current policies and treatment techniques, enabling the seamless introduction of clinical trials within the department, while continuing to give hands-on radiotherapy treatment., The remaining time will be spent working with the Oncology clinical trials team recruiting patients into Health and Care Research Wales Portfolio studies. The post holders will work closely with our team of clinical research nurses and administrative staff working on a diverse portfolio of studies. The role involves providing information to patients who participate in research, supporting them in their decision-making to participate in trials, strict protocol adherence, data collection, and organisation of relevant tests and procedures. The role is also a focal point of liaison with members of Swansea Bay UHB Medical Physics and Engineering and Radioisotopes departments, doctors, research nurses, R&D staff, trials sponsors and staff in other departments within the health board. The post holder will also be responsible for promoting research within the radiotherapy department, Health Board and further afield, supporting colleagues and local investigators to deliver
high quality research activity to support patient care. The role requires flexibility and the ability to work as a team member and under own direction.
The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and communication skills, and should be IT literate, with experience of working with spreadsheets and data management. An understanding of, or previous experience with, clinical trials processes is desirable but not essential. Training will be given, to enable the post holder to gain the specialist knowledge required to facilitate all the aspects of the radiotherapy trial activity and associated administration. The post holders will also need to travel within the health board as required.
