Full Job Description

Guildhouse School, located in the heart of Bloomsbury in central London, is a boarding school for ages 15+ that provides an immersive international environment for ideas and creativity, where students are empowered to make a positive impact on our world. The school offers an outstanding international pre-university educational experience, with small class sizes, to students from all over the world. Housed in three beautiful grade two listed buildings, the school is the first high school in Europe to have a Bloomberg Business Lab. Students at Guildhouse School are studying for A levels and University Foundation Programmes and preparing for admission to universities across the UK and abroad. We pride ourselves on our approach to high quality and personalised teaching and learning experiences, with small class sizes and an informal atmosphere ensuring that students are treated as individuals and build great relationships with staff. Our ethos and culture for students is 'Work Hard, Aim
High & Be Kind'., The duties specified are not intended to represent an exhaustive list, and will vary where necessary to suit the skill set of the post holder and the needs of Guildhouse School :

The role of an RHP is to work with the Assistant Head : Boarding and the Boarding Team.

Responsibilities include the following :

4. Maintaining confidentiality and other professional standards of the education sector, such as the implications of the National Minimum Standards for Boarding

5. Completing records of progress, welfare, problems, achievements, conduct and other reports

6. Responding to circumstances of individual boarders, including those from different cultural backgrounds or with specific health needs

The boarding house, Premier House, is unique in terms of layout and location but the ethos of the house is very much in line with traditional boarding values. It consists of 8 floors and has 4 student clusters each able to accommodate 4 to 8 students on each floor. On the ground floor is the house entrance and in the lower ground floor is common room space. A key requirement is that RHPs have the confidence to spend time with students in their clusters, making sure that students are behaving well, providing light-touch, friendly supervision and making sure rooms are tidy and organised. The RHPs provide the bespoke pastoral care that makes our boarding environment unique.

The characteristics we seek are :

2. A good understanding of the academic processes involved with Further and Higher Education

3. A fluent speaker of English with strong written skills

6. A calm and pragmatic approach to life

7. Confidence and resilience when dealing with teenagers

8. Enthusiasm to participate in the wider life of Guildhouse School

Guildhouse School seeks Resident House Parents (RHPs) to work in its principal boarding facility ("Premier House") in central London. Premier House has about 120 international students, typically aged 15-19, accommodated in a large building near Bloomsbury Square. The great majority have English as an additional language; some speak English fluently, others less so.

RHPs work within the team of about 10 boarding staff assisting with the personal, moral, spiritual and intellectual development of each student in Premier House. They must model the high personal and academic standards of responsible adults that students respect and have the personality to contribute to a secure, stable and caring environment.

The post of RHP at Guildhouse School is unlike residential posts in other schools. Our students are older, and that brings both managerial challenges and professional opportunities. They are much less likely to need time from the RHPs during the day. Students are much more likely to need time before class, in the late evenings and at weekends, which means RHPs need to be flexible., CATS Global Schools is a leading education group committed to inspiring the next generation of world shapers. With a history dating back to 1899, but a focus on the future, our group brings together 16 institutions comprising independent boarding schools, an Arts University College, English language schools and a variety of summer programmes in the UK, US, Canada, and China.

Each year, we provide 18,000 students around the globe with the education they need to develop real-life skills for the future. We are dedicated to academic excellence and our students benefit from our well-developed links to over 40 top global universities.

We create a positive learning environment where every student is empowered to make a contribution to shape their world. This is made possible because of the commitment of our pioneering, persevering people who do the very best for our students.
