This role involves supporting children and young people with special educational needs, disabilities, social/emotional, and mental health needs, some of whom may present challenging behaviours due to previously unmet needs. The aim is to achieve positive outcomes by providing comprehensive support to both the young person and their families.,

  • Childcare Practice: Promote good childcare practices and create a caring environment in line with organizational values.
  • Care Programs: Assist in devising and implementing individualized care programs.
  • Communication: Collaborate effectively with families and external professionals.
  • Building Relationships: Build positive relationships with young people to foster self-esteem and confidence.
  • Daily Support: Assist with daily routines, including light household tasks and snack preparation.
  • Activities: Organize and participate in activities, both onsite and offsite.
  • Escort Duties: Accompany young people to appointments as required.
  • Safety and Security: Implement protocols for missing persons and ensure the safety and security of the home.
  • Health and Safety: Comply with health and safety policies, including fire safety.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records as per statutory requirements.
  • Professional Development: Participate in training and take responsibility for personal growth.

    The home is a solo provision catering to young people aged 7 to 17 upon admission. The residents may have a variety of diagnoses, such as Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), Mild Learning Disabilities (LD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and may come from trauma or neglect backgrounds., Education: Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification (either completed or in progress).
  • Experience: Experience in residential childcare settings, particularly with challenging behaviours.
  • Skills: Strong commitment to high-quality care, attention to detail in documentation, resilience, and adaptability to changing situations.
  • Additional Information Flexibility is crucial due to the unpredictable nature of the work, which may include evenings and weekends. All appointments are subject to Safer Recruitment Procedures and an enhanced DBS check. This is a fulfilling opportunity for compassionate and dedicated individuals looking to make a significant impact on the lives of young people.

    Hours: 37.5 hours per week on a flexible basis, including evenings, weekends, and on-call requirements. Inclusion in the staff rota is required. Sleeps: Not required, however working nights on a rolling rota is required. Please note this role is only open to individuals who are enrolled on or have completed their Level 3 in Children's Residential Diploma OR Level 3 Children & Young People Workforce Diploma
