Permanent, Full Time Support Staff Contract

St Joseph's College is recruiting a Residential House Parent who will help us make our two boarding houses a 'home from home', a supportive family environment which will help our fantastic young people to thrive. Located in Ipswich we have two busy boarding houses made up of students from the UK and across the world. The happiness and welfare of each and every one of our boarders is the most important thing to us. We are therefore looking for dedicated, talented and caring individuals who want to embrace all that working in a boarding house in a successful independent school has to offer.

Ideally you will have had previous experience supporting with working with young people and Boarding, but above all, we are looking for individuals who we can entrust with overseeing the safety, good discipline and pastoral wellbeing of our boarders. You will also have good organisational skills with the ability to support the admin that goes alongside a busy boarding house.

The post-holder will work two evening shifts per week and every other weekend in addition to teaching / classroom assistant duties during the normal school day - experience of teaching EAL would be advantageous. During the holiday breaks, you will also work 5 shifts each in February & May half term holidays; after the end of the Summer Term to close the boarding house down and before the start of the new academic year to facilitate pre-season training residential supervision and the opening up of the Boarding houses. For the rest of non-term time, you will usually work 8.00am - 4.00pm Monday to Friday.

As this is a residential role, rent-free accommodation is provided with all council tax, utilities and all meals during term time included.
