As a Residential Manager, you will be responsible for the daily management of a shift, providing advice and support to Secure Care Officers to promote the safeguarding of Children's welfare and ensure that a stable and secure environment is provided for all children in order to maintain good order and discipline of the establishment.

In addition, it is crucial that this role supports and mentors a team of Secure Care Officers whilst offering hands on coaching and motivation, so line management experience and a passion for developing others is key.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role are:

  • Participate in the Admission and assessment process of children, paying regard to vulnerability and safety.

  • Demonstrate the value of education and care to children; through pro-social modelling and development of the team to change behaviours.

  • Form trusting, respectful and professional relationships with children, in order that they respond and react appropriately to information and guidance.

  • Ensure that all relevant paperwork is completed to a high standard, within required timescales and communicated effectively, in order to comply with the Contract and Company Policies and Procedures.

  • Facilitate group and individual offending behaviour programmes, complying with training plans and within contractual compliance, in order to reduce offending.

  • Liaise effectively and professionally with internal and external agencies, parents and carers, in order to maximise partnership working and positive outcomes for children.

  • Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example.

  • G4S Care and Rehabilitation Services is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and adults at risk and each employee is expected to support these goals.

With at least 2 years operational experience within a Custodial or Childrens Home environment, you will have a consultative and can do attitude, be a dynamic and engaging individual; supporting and coaching staff to maximise their performance.

  • You must possess excellent communication skills both written and oral, alongside good negotiation and influencing skills. It is imperative that you consider yourself to be effective and resilient under pressure and ready to manage the ever changing dynamic of the day to day operation. This can, at times feel challenging to manage, and whilst we pride ourselves on team work and support, it is important to acknowledge that this can be a high pressured environment.

As a proven professional, with a good sense of humour, you will be an integral part of the Oakhill STC team.

G4S Oakhill Secure Training Centre (STC) cares for children aged 12 to 18 years old who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention.
