Full Job Description

  • By being a senior member of the team - guiding & supporting others as well as Shift Leading
  • By being the allocated Key Worker for a number of Children and Young People - being responsible for completing and updating Care Plans, Risk Assessments, Impact Assessments among other documents
  • Liaising with Parents, Managers in the home, and Professionals outside of the home to ensure a consistent level of care to the Young Person
  • By communicating, engaging, encouraging, and supporting young people to take part in local activities and events to develop social and independence skills.
  • Promoting a safe environment, where Young People can thrive and try out new experiences and have fun.
  • Advocating on behalf of the Children and Young People.
  • Supporting Young People to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Ability to plan and organise your day.
  • An understanding of technology such as Tablet Computers, Games Consoles etc which Young People use to aid their communication or express their needs.
  • The ability to communicate appropriately with Children, Young People, their Families and to colleagues within the Home and the wider Council and to external agencies (such as Social Workers, Teachers etc).
  • Recording observations and undertake administrative processes as needed.
  • By having basic knowledge of IT packages such as Word, Excel & Outlook.

    The basic annual salary advertised of £26,421 to £28,770 will be uplifted by £3,656 to £3,981 with guaranteed hourly enhancements. This will bring the total to £30,077 to £32,751. These amounts also do not include enhancements for weekday morning working or the sleep-in allowance. A Fixed Term opportunity has arisen at Haviland Way, to cover a Residential Worker post whilst Maternity Leave is taken. This is a fixed term post to cover from 5th November 2024 to 3rd November 2025. Would you like to start or continue your career supporting Children and Young People who have a disability? Haviland Way is an 5 bedded Short Break home for Children and Young People aged 8 to 18 who have a learning or physical disability and or additional health or behavioural needs.
