Full Job Description

Our children's home in Aylesbury is recruiting for two night support workers to join our team. You will be working alongside a supportive and growing team to care for children and young people in one of our residential homes situated in Aylesbury.

The children you will be supporting are from 8 to 18 years old and display behaviours which are of emotional and behavioural challenges. Therefore you will need to a resilient, but caring individual who is able to support their needs and challenges, but also having fun and able to make their experience an enjoyable one., You will work as part of a team to provide a safe and comfortable environment for young people in care. This includes working to maintain or improve the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of a young person, alongside the possibility of preparing a young person for independence.

  • Caring for children as part of a coportate parenting role: supporting children with attending education, following routines and implementing healthy boundaries whilst working alongside professionals such as social workers and families.

  • Paticipate in shift working; night hours with every other weekend off.

  • Lead by example to the young people, whilst following the Buckinghamshire council policies and procedures.

  • Attend and support young people at professionals meetings.

  • Help young people develop and maintain independent living skills

  • Document and report any changes or concerns regarding the well-being of individuals

  • Ideally hold a level 3 diploma in childrens residential or equivalent.

  • You will need to be able to manage challenging behaviours at time, and we will support you by providing ongoing training.

  • Using initiative and proactively supporting the young person in a challenging environment.

  • Has an open and forward thinking mind to healthy change and parenting styles.

  • Be open to the idea of getting stuck in to different tasks; everyday is different!

    Buckinghamshire council are expanding our very own childrens residential homes so that children who are cared for have homes in surrounding Bucks area.
