Full Job Description

The main role will be performing a wide range of lung function and sleep diagnostic investigations. Support of consultant led sleep clinics including CPAP and mask fit problems will also be required.

Training will be provided where necessary. Competency will be assessed internally to provide reassurance of clinical performance as well as working towards ARTP accreditation.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. Leading in innovation and quality - opening a state of the art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. Do you want to work in one of the best performing NHS organisations in England? Work in an organisation that supports its staff and focuses on staff experience as much as it does the experience of its patients? You can live and breathe in an area that has the cleanest air, cost effective living, great nightlife, some of the best schools with a wealth of history available on your doorstep. Sound too good to be true? Well it isn't, this is what you get when you work for Northumbria Healthcare, this is the Northumbria Way! Please read 'applicant guidance notes'
before submitting your application.

The successful candidate will need to have experience in or complete training to be competent in a wide range of diagnostic tests including spirometry, lung volumes, gas transfer, capillary blood gas performance and analysis, skin allergy tests, field exercise tests, MIP/MEPS/SNIP, exhaled and nasal nitric oxide. To be involved in sleep study set up, CPAP maintenance and patient support. To offer support for all clinical needs, provide a service for specialities outside of respiratory medicine and to be involved in research investigations. To provide training to junior members of staff.

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to become part of the Lung Function service at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The position will be 37.5hrs per week permanent contract. We are looking for a highly motivated Respiratory Physiologist to work with us, to provide a high quality of care to all of our patients, on the Wansbeck General Hospital, North Tyneside General Hospital and outlying sites. You will need to have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. In addition, the flexibility to work around clinic times is essential.

You must have a BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent). Other science degrees may also be considered eg Sports and Exercise Physiology, Biology etc.

ARTP certification and RCCP or HCPC registration are desirable for this post. If the applicant does not have ARTP accreditation or significant relevant experience, training will be provided with the expectation of taking and passing this qualification., Disability Confident
