Full Job Description

This is a SHO level role within the Respiratory Department, based at Croydon University Hospital. The successful applicant will join a dynamic team. The appointee is expected to undertake the admission and day to day care of Respiratory patients, including a number of patients admitted for short term investigation and also patients requiring longer term treatment. Supported Training is available for anyone wishing to develop within the role in Respiratory. Please note this position requires the successful candidate to have a right to work in the UK, full GMC registration with a License to Practise prior to starting. General Responsibilities

  • Manage Respiratory and general medical and elderly care patients throughout their stay and maintain a high standard of communication with patients and carers. This will be both in the dedicated Duupas Ward and in the general ward
  • Participate on daily ward rounds
  • Participate in MDT meetings
  • Work alongside therapists and nursing staff
  • Active involvement in ensuring provision of high clinical quality care and contribution to audit cycle both in particular VTE and dementia assessment and record keeping. Participation in departmental audits.
  • Maintaining patient safety through participation in handover meetings and Hospital at Night processes in line with Trust Policies and local specialty requirements
  • Teaching and Training Responsibilities · Daily ward round teaching is expected · Supervision and training on common medical procedures · Attendance/Involvement at weekly educational meetings Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provide hospital and community services from a number of community and specialist clinics throughout Croydon. These include:
  • Croydon University Hospital
  • Purley Hospital
  • The Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre in Thornton Heath
  • Community bases at Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodside
  • A minor injuries unit in New Addington
