Full Job Description

As a Restorative Justice (RJ) Worker, you will apply restorative approaches to encourage children we work with to consider the impact of their actions and help repair the harm that has been caused through their behaviour. You will also contact and meet with the people harmed by youth crime, offer them support inclusive of restorative approaches and keep them updated about the child's progress. You will employ a variety of direct and indirect restorative approaches where appropriate and will play a key role in ensuring that the process is safe for all involved.

Ability to build good working relationships and engage young people, their families, victims of crime and Youth Offender Panel members.
Knowledge or practical experience of restorative approaches or mediation techniques.
Experience of managing a caseload preferable.
Knowledge or practical experience of working with victims of crime.
An understanding of the issues and challenges that children and young people face through adolescence.
Knowledge of the Youth Justice System.
Ability to undertake assessments and identify the needs of victims to be able to assess and formulate possible interventions.
Solid track record of direct work with vulnerable children and young people, other professionals and service users.
Experience of delivering interventions on a 1:1 basis.
Experience of facilitating the delivery of group programmes.
