Full Job Description

The objective of this role is to process and determine the statutory request for reviews under Part VI and VII of the Housing Act 1996. You will ensure that decisions are made in accordance with legislation, case law and policies. You will be conducting reviews pursuant to S202 of the Housing Act 1996 on matters of suitability of all forms of accommodation (Private Sector Housing, Social Housing and Temporary Accommodation) under both Part VI and VII of the legislative function including Section 184 Housing Act 1996 Decisions.,

  • Conducting statutory reviews under s202 of the Housing Act 1996 Part 7.
  • Managing caseloads in accordance with statutory timeframe
  • Managing the administrative duties attendant to the caseload, This role is subject to safer recruitment practices as it involves work with children and/ or vulnerable adults

    Applicant must have working experience of assessing homelessness application and making offers of accommodation to homeless applicants., To be considered for this position, you should meet the following requirements:
  • A minimum of 12 months experience of conducting statutory reviews under Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 or
  • Experience of assessing homelessness applications as well as experience of working in the Accommodation Placement Team.
  • Working knowledge of the homelessness legislation gained through legal sector.
  • Experience of working in the Accommodation Placement Team.
  • Good organisational skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read complex material and write complex letters
  • Specific knowledge of legislation and practice in relation to homelessness.
  • Able to communicate with a range of stakeholders and produce high standard written communication such as letters, reports, statements.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet legal deadlines.
  • Logical mind
