Full Job Description

The post holder, an Allied Health Professional or Nurse by background, will be responsible for management of the regional revision knee network and coordinating the complex care of revision knee patients, maintaining on-going communication with patients as well as setting up patient support and counselling pathways. They will coordinate the team, including the running of MDT meetings and complex case clinics. The post holder will have the support of an administrative assistant to run the network, and be directly responsible for their management. The post-holder will need counselling and leadership skills, a knowledge of complex arthroplasty as well as wound management solutions, antibiotics and a drive to improve the care for this group of patients. Support for the post-holder will be provided by the well-established revision knee MDT at Northumbria Trust, which comprises orthopaedic revision surgeons, ID and microbiology consultants, plastic surgeons and
anaesthetic consultants., The post holder will:
· Work alongside to develop and co-ordinate the running of the Northeast and North Cumbria (NENC) Knee Revision Network
· Co-ordinate knee revision patient care, including patients with prosthetic joint infection and patients with problematic and painful knee replacements
· Co-ordinate regional multi-disciplinary team meetings, collation and dissemination of these discussions (with the support of a newly appointed administrative assistant)
· Work as a high-level practitioner with enhanced clinical skills within an interdepartmental and / or multidisciplinary team to ensure that patients within their sphere of clinical expertise receive holistic, timely and quality clinical care
· Work autonomously in conducting clinical examination, formulating a working diagnosis and providing timely treatment interventions in accordance with their scope of practice
· Monitor and lead improvements of standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, implementation of evidence-based practice, teaching and support of colleagues and the provision of professional leadership
· Lead the implementation of evidence-based practice and contribute to the development of the evidence through research, audit and collaboration with clinical or academic staff
