Full Job Description

You will lead the delivery of reporting, analysis and insights for the Trading and Risk teams. You will develop models to determine the most effective ways to protect CCS customers against energy market price risk. You will use your expertise to help customers understand the complexities of the energy markets.
Directorate Overview
Commercial is the largest directorate in CCS and is responsible for the design, development, implementation and management of our commercial agreements, which are used by our customers across the public sector. We have delivered value to the public sector and helped our customers spend more than £34 billion through the agreements we create and enjoy more than £3.5 billion in commercial benefits annually through our agreements.
Category management sits at the heart of CCS. We use our in-depth knowledge and expertise of public sector suppliers, to create market and category strategies. These strategies are used within CCS to create market leading commercial agreements that help shape how common goods and services are bought across the public sector. Our skills are also used in carrying out commercial policy, development of new products and services and supplier relationship management.
Team Summary
The Trading and Risk teams purchase gas and power from the wholesale energy markets. The Risk team sets the framework within which the Trading team operates, providing oversight, support and analysis to ensure customers are adequately protected from market risks. The Risk Analyst will report to the Risk Manager., + Develop a detailed understanding of UK gas and electricity markets, becoming a source of knowledge and expertise for all matters related to these markets and the risk management of energy trading
+ Deliver market reporting and analysis to support the trading team in their decision-making process
+ Ensure all risk management tools and systems are functioning correctly and contain a complete, up-to-date view of relevant data
+ Provide analysis of CCS and external data, drawing on strong numerical skills to draw conclusions and make recommendations
+ Lead on the development of models and perform analysis to support evidence-based decision making
+ Maintain CCS energy risk management policy, ensuring all approved controls are clear and up-to-date
+ Monitor compliance of trading activity to the risk management policy
+ Present to a range of audiences including customers
+ Lead on bespoke analysis to support the wider energy team as required
+ Work across the wider energy team on projects, new procurement's and activities as needed, Please note: Applicants can make use of artificial intelligence but the information presented at application must be factual.

CCS is a flexible business with a smarter working model where our colleagues benefit from a mix of home and office working. Successful candidates are expected to work from one of the office locations listed. Our current office attendance approach requires a minimum of 26 days per quarter (approx 2 days per week, which may be subject to change) in CCS office locations or off site meetings with suppliers, customers, partners, networking / industry events. This is pro rata for those who work part time.
