Full Job Description

You will play a crucial role in ensuring that the Risk Control Framework is well managed, delivering support to your team and leading colleagues across the Commission to implement risk management processes and procedures., It's about good risk management. You will be part of the team leading Risk and Assurance work and you will be an advocate for the importance and benefits of good risk management. You will manage and advise on the implementation of risk management processes and procedures and champion their importance. You will track actions and provide reporting at Board level on the operation of the risk and assurance function, and will take a role in policy and process development.
- It's about change. Your work will focus on improving risk management in both our day to day regulatory work and in major programmes. You will be responsible for supporting risk management for the Gambling Act Review (GAR) Programme, working in a matrix management structure across the Governance Team and the Programme Team. The GAR sets out a comprehensive package of reforms and this is an exciting chance to work at the leading edge of regulatory change.
- It's about collaboration. You will be responsible for day-to-day business partnering with risk leads across the Commission and will support the organisation to identify, assess and monitor risk and to implement improvements in risk maturity. You will build relationships with stakeholders inside and outside of the Commission and will manage relationships to support the development and delivery of risk reporting.
- It's about leadership. You will provide positive staff leadership including performance management and review, coaching and motivation for the Risk Analyst role.
- It's about data. You will use your analytical skills to interpret and present data to ensure that colleagues have the best available information to inform decision making across the organisation.
- It's about continuous improvement. You will work with the risk team to identify and deliver improvements to optimise risk management practice. You will lead the development of training and resources to build capacity and capability for internal stakeholders. You will develop the Commission's assurance framework to ensure that risk management and internal audit is informed by insights into existing and emerging controls.

Experience of applying the key principles and concepts of risk management, and knowledge of project management techniques. Direct experience of working within a risk management framework.
- Experience of data analysis and using data to develop reporting and presentations.
- Experience of developing and delivering resources for training and supporting colleagues to develop organisational capacity and capability.
- Excellent written and oral skills and experience of preparing and delivering papers and presentations. Able to use tact and diplomacy to communicate complex and sensitive information and to adapt style to suit the audience.
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to engage at all levels, offering constructive challenge to improve outcomes.
- Ability to work independently within own sphere of responsibility, understanding when issues can be dealt with and when they need to be escalated.
- Ability to review existing policies and processes or implement new approaches to improve quality and performance whilst retaining the necessary rigour. The ability to proactively identify gaps and weaknesses in existing activity and implement suitable fixes.
- Ability to lead, manage and develop staff and a commitment to developing your own leadership and management skills.
- Influencing and negotiating skills to achieve a desired result, with resilience to overcome obstacles to delivery.
- Ability to prioritise and organise your time to manage competing demands and meet deadlines.

Desirable:

- Commitment to personal development and willingness to study for the MoR4 Practitioner qualification (funding available)
- Experience of working in a regulatory or risk management environment
