Roadside Service Mechanic

The purpose of the Road Service Mechanic (RSM) is to carry out minor repairs and parts replacements to our fleet of buses across the Halifax local. The RSM will attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries to carry out the repairs. The ideal RSM will take a flexible approach in respect to working hours and job roles to ensure that commitments are fulfilled.

Main responsibilities include, but not limited to:

-Minor vehicle repairs

-Attend on-road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries

-Ensure protective clothing and equipment is used at all times.

-Carry out routine vehicle servicing in accordance with Central Engineering SOPs.

-Record job times for the repair action

-Ensure all parts are booked out from stores using correct procedure.

Working shift pattern: 5 over 7, mix of early's and late shifts, including some weekends (TBD at interview stage).

You must have at minimum an NVQ Level 3 in mechanical maintenance or equivalent.

-Proven working experience in the transport field

-You must be fully conversant with the safe operation of workshop equipments including, hydraulic vehicle lifts, battery chargers and starters, pressure wash and automatice washing equipment, drilling machine, torque wrenches, pedestal grinders and general portable equipment.

-You must have a valid UK drivers licence.

-You must be a UK resident

-You must either be in the possession of, or capable of obtaining a full PCV licence (First Bus will help with this if you do not have one).
