This successful candidate will be part of England's first ever degree-level Robotics Engineering Apprenticeship which has been driven by the need to address this shortage.

This position reports to

Service Engineering Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support business, collaborate with different teams, and contribute to the company's strategic objectives. Each day, you will gain knowledge by performing tasks as directed by the manager and wider business. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting ABB's operations and participating in the Robotics Engineer Degree Apprenticeship through MK:U, Cranfield University. You will be enrolled full-time in a Level 6 Robotics Engineer degree Apprenticeship at MK:U Cranfield University, expected to start in January 2025. This apprenticeship combines on-the-job work experience with university education, providing a well-rounded learning experience. Continuous support from the training team and a highly experienced well-established engineering team ensures your development throughout the program. You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Supporting the implementation, delivery, and continuous improvement of products and services within the Field

  • Service Engineer Team
  • Participating in formal training to work towards a level 6 Degree Apprenticeship Degree Course Duration will be 33 months + end point assessment Delivering the assigned tasks/projects within the assignment period. Contributing to diverse social events and team activities and using the chance to establish a broad network within ABB.


  • Qualifications for the role

  • 96 UCAS points, 3/C at A-level (or equivalent) OR relevant experience.

  • Maths and English GCSE/O level grade C/4 or higher.

  • Aptitude for maths and interest in starting a career within Robotics Engineering.

  • As this an apprenticeship role where the successful candidate will work towards completion of an engineering qualification, therefore we cannot consider candidates who already have one.

  • Full UK Driving license.
