Chestergates Veterinary Specialists are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals who are wanting to pursue a rotating internship to achieve their professional goals. Our internship programme aims to nurture the best and brightest veterinary surgeons to serve as the foundations and grassroots for future generations as well as prepare them for advanced postgraduate training, programmes such as residencies. Our interns go on to undertake a variety of roles from returning to primary care practice through to securing a residency in their chosen specialism.

We are a friendly and supportive specialist-led multidisciplinary referral centre located near Chester. Our disciplines cover anaesthesia, internal medicine, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, cardiology, neurology, diagnostic imaging and ophthalmology. With state-of-the-art equipment and highly experienced nursing teams, we receive cases from all over the country, with the assurance of exceptional care to all our patients.

The rotating internship programme at Chestergates Veterinary Specialists is a 12-month fixed-term position. In this exciting role you will work under the supervision of specialists in a wide range of disciplines and have access to our state-of-the-art equipment. You will also have the opportunity to work within our out-of-hours first opinion practice, ensuring that you develop your emergency and critical care skills and knowledge with our supportive and caring team.

Our interns will have the opportunity to take part in both formal and informal learning opportunities. They will be encouraged to participate in and prepare journal clubs, seminars, clinical reviews and many more such activities. Working within CVS Ltd. Also provides individuals with the opportunity to collaborate with other centres, build relationships for the future and maximise learning success with support from in-house CPD provided by the Knowledge Hub.

The ideal applicant will have completed at least one year in general practice and be looking either to take the next step towards specialisation, gain further ECC experience or to improve their knowledge, clinical reasoning and diagnostic skills. The applicant should have a proactive, professional approach, positive attitude at all times, outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to stay calm under pressure, great teamwork skills, along with a commitment to practicing the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care.

The successful candidates must be a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and will ideally already have a sponsored visa; although applicants are encouraged to apply regardless as this will be judged on an individual basis.
