Full Job Description

Attending the RPS MDT weekly meetings
Typing letters using Winscribe
Using NUH hospital systems i.e. Careflow, Notis & Nuclearsarc
Book clinic appointments and reschedule clinics when required
Contact Patient via telephone and letter to inform of appointments
Support both the CNS nurse and consultant with patient queries
Responsible for ensuring patients on the partial booking waiting list are seen in the appropriate timescales.
present a professional, polite and courteous attitude at all times, o Using Careflow or any other relevant electronic booking systems arrange appointments for new and follow up clinics, as instructed by the RPS Consultant, CNS nurses and management team.
Type clinic letters and correspondence to patients and other trusts using Winscribe
o Attend the weekly RPS MDT (multidisciplinary team meeting) and book any appointment, track patients having scans or biopsies in a timely manner to avoid delays.
o Support with the standard operating practice taking decision to escalate to the management team any clinic capacity issues.
o Restructure clinics due to consultant's annual leave or study leave.
o Contact GP surgeries and other trusts to obtain additional patient information etc.
o Responds to any temporary day to day demand and capacity updates required in Medway. Print appointment/procedure confirmation letters as necessary and send to patients with the relevant information leaflets promptly.
o Keep personally updated and be able to advise patients in relation to peripheral services available, i.e. transport, interpreting services etc.
o Contact patients via telephone of their appointment date to prevent DNAs (did not attend)
o Contact patients to confirm TCIs (to come in dates for surgery) and update their Careflow waiting list entry.
o Booking and arranging Pre-Operative assements for patients listed for surgery.
o Support the CNS nurse with day to day administration of patients on the cancer pathway
o Support with managing patients on the partial booking follow up appointments waiting list.
o Notify and flag to the CNS nurse or management teams of any patients who fail to attend their appointment as a matter of urgency with the patient being on a cancer pathway.
o Receive and respond to enquiries from relatives/external agencies adhering to Trust confidentiality guidelines at all times.
o Liaising with external trusts who refer their patients to the Sarcoma MDTs or the RPS Service.
o Be able to competently use Medway PAS and other information technology systems and participate in training programmes to develop and update personal skills to meet the needs of the department.
o To track patients receiving scans or biopsies on the trust NuclearSarc tracking system to ensure follow up appointments or DNAs are escalated as a matter of urgency.
o Support the head of service with diary management.
o Maintain tidy, safe working environment, reporting any hazards or faults timely and appropriately.
o Present a professional, polite and courteous attitude at all times on duty.
o Undertake any other duties, which may reasonably be required.

If you are aged 16 or 17 and applying for a role that is more than 20 hours a week, please be aware that you will be asked to commence an Apprenticeship within the Trust alongside your role, as long as there is a suitable apprenticeship standard available. Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation. The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.

+ Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
+ Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£42.90 for enhanced and £22.90 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month's pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
