Full Job Description

  • The post holder will work as a member of the Trust's centralised Safeguarding Team with the Associate Director for Safeguarding to ensure the organisation meets its organisational, statutory and regulatory requirements and responsibilities to safeguard adults and children.
  • The post will have a direct impact on the way the Trust delivers services to service users and carers, working to embed a robust culture of safeguarding. The post holder will report to either the Trust's Safeguarding Adults and Prevent Lead or Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children, promoting exemplar safeguarding practice and incorporating a 'Think Family' approach.
  • The post holder will be aligned to a Directorate(s) and provide advice and support to staff, including managers, on safeguarding enquiries, serious safeguarding reviews, and provide input into place/ borough based multi-agency safeguarding partnership committees and sub-groups.
  • The post holder will attend both internal and external safeguarding meetings. These will include the Trust's Integrated Safeguarding Committee, Local Authority Safeguarding sub-groups, relevant operational Directorate sub-groups and 'Task and Finish Groups'/ workstreams, as appropriate
  • To provide safeguarding practice leadership, knowledge and skills within a centralised safeguarding team and provide excellence in the quality and delivery of services.
  • To work with the Trust's Named professionals for safeguarding adults and safeguarding children and deliver a robust safeguarding service based on 'Think Family' principles.
  • To champion the Trust safeguarding agenda through modelling excellent safeguarding practice, ensuring that Trust staff are appropriately trained & supported to effectively cascade practice and knowledge to teams throughout all Trust services.
  • To apply own area of expertise in the development of appropriate adult and/ or children safeguarding training material.
  • To both receive, deliver, and develop best practice safeguarding supervision in line with the Trust's Safeguarding supervision policy and other best practice guidance.
  • To directly participate and support Directorate staff through the adult and/ or children safeguarding processes, including individual management reviews, rapid reviews, and multi-agency serious safeguarding review panels.
  • To closely work with the Serious Incidents team, legal team and the complaints team and advise them around adult and children safeguarding matters when requested., To direct, implement, monitor and review the Trust strategic priorities and workplans for safeguarding adults and the Prevent Duty, ensuring that it meets appropriate statutory requirements and guidance and is fit for purpose.
  • To oversee safeguarding adult quality improvements, development of safeguarding policies and processes to strengthen and embed a culture of safeguarding adults within a Think Family framework.
  • Ensure that quality assurance processes are in place for safeguarding adults, that they are implemented and reviewed as needed.
  • To direct the implementation and delivery of safeguarding standards for new and existing services to ensure safeguarding and the protection of adults at risk is embedded in operational policies and practice.
  • To develop, review and implement Trust policies and procedures that reflect current guidance and practice for the protection and safeguarding of adults at risk. Maintain and ensure good professional standards and attitudes towards the care and treatment of service users and carers.
  • To provide Safeguarding Adults expertise knowledge, skills and input into staff allegations involving Persons in Position of Trust (PiPOT), working collaboratively with Human Resource (HR) team, relevant operational service areas and Local Authority partners. Supporting the Trusts Executive lead for Safeguarding, Chief People Officer and Associate Director of Safeguarding in fulfilling the Trusts duties under the PiPOT policy.
