Full Job Description
We are seeking skilled and compassionate individuals to join the new NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service (London) in the role of Safeguarding Advisor/Social Worker.,
- To be a competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner within safeguarding ensuring the provision of high-quality evidence-based service, for children, young people and adults at risk.
- Ensure appropriate support to children and young people, their families and the service in terms of safeguarding.
- Ensure appropriate holistic support is provided through the service and link with multi-agency teams in other services as necessary.
- To support the development of safeguarding processes and operate within a system to safeguard children and young people, including direct liaison with patient's families and staff.
- To facilitate good communication and consistency across the service in terms of safeguarding support, including ensuring the regular briefing as required of clinical teams on key safeguarding issues and specific safeguarding cases.
- To maintain an overview of cases where complex concerns have been notified to the Safeguarding Team to promote safety and well-being of children and young people at risk.
- Where appropriate support staff to professionally challenge the analysis of others where safeguarding concerns need further escalation
- With the support of the Safeguarding Lead, ensure and facilitate good communication and consistency of service provision and development for safeguarding within the service.
- Act as a visible role model and foster an environment that enhances the patient family and staff experience
Applicants should have experience in safeguarding within services for children and young people, and of providing specialist advice, supervision, training and support on safeguarding issues Applicants must have a Diploma or Degree RN Children, or RN Adult with Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visiting/ School Nursing) qualification, or RN Learning Disability/ RN mental health with paediatric experience, or be a registered Social Worker. Applicants also must have post registration education in children protection/ safeguarding children module at graduate level or be prepared to work towards this.
