Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare view Safeguarding as 'Everyone's Responsibility' and advocate a family approach to safeguarding. Children aged 0 to 18 years (including unborn babies) for whom there is a concern and information relating to their parents, carers or other adults involved in the life of the child or family. Working closely with the Named Nurse, and Band 7 Specialist Safeguarding Nurses, the post holder will contribute to the health component of the Child Protection and Child in Need statutory health requirements within the Southampton area. To work collaboratively with other health professionals and safeguarding partners to ensure health statutory requirements are fulfilled. To facilitate good practice in prevention, identification, actioning and management of safeguarding children and young people when actual or suspected abuse has occurred. To support the development and implementation of safeguarding practice across Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare to enable effective multi-agency liaison meeting the statutory requirements., This is a new dedicated post within the Southampton safeguarding support team hub to support the health response within the child protection and child in need statutory requirements within the place-based Southampton area.
- They will facilitate the health response in children protection and child in need activity when there is no identified health professional working with the family/ child.
- This will include navigating electronic health records, liaising with other health professionals to gather and analysis health information for the purpose of compiling a health report for the purpose of child protection or child in need conferences and planning.
- Health representation and attendance at child protection and child in need conferences to share health report.
- Represent health as a statutory safeguarding partner within child protection decision making.
- To manage the sharing of confidential and highly sensitive information with outside agencies, providing and receiving complex information within the Safeguarding arena.
- Undertake comprehensive, relevant, and proportionate health reports for the purpose of safeguarding children and young people.
