The School

Kingsmead is a large, oversubscribed school that, despite serving a postcode in the top 20% most deprived parts of England:

• Has an ambitious curriculum 'grammar school for comprehensive intake' curriculum. We have an almost exclusively GCSE KS4 and A Level KS5, aiming for 90% EBacc while also having a performing a visual arts specialism and an exceptionally wide range of exam courses.

To provide mental health support to our students to enable them to thrive in their education both socially and academically. To address the needs of our vulnerable students by delivering planned interventions/mentoring and responding to safeguarding incidents.

To assist the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) with safeguarding and child protection across the school (including online safety). To take part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings, and contribute to the assessment of children.

To advise and support other members of staff on child mental health welfare, safeguarding and child protection matters, and liaise with relevant agencies such as the local authority and police.
