Full Job Description

The Adult Safeguarding Team have a Principal Practitioner vacancy within their management team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker looking for a new challenge within Adult Social Care.

To help us recruit social workers who are committed to working in Middlesbrough we are currently offering a 10% supplement to social work salaries, which will be reviewed at the end of March 2025.

The Principal Practitioner will be responsible for:

Undertaking supervision and appraisal meetings

Supporting the day-to-day running of the team

offering advice and guidance and supporting with case allocations, and closures

Holding a caseload of more complex enquiries and chairing safeguarding meetings Attendance at various multi agency meetings representing adult social care

Ensuring that the team meet performance and recording standards

Deputising in the absence of the Team Manager

Providing training, support and guidance to internal and external professionals to support learning and development.

Within this role there is the opportunity to gain experience working collaboratively with partner agencies including South Tees NHS Foundation Trust, Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS Trust and Accessing Change Together (ACT) Middlesbrough, amongst many others, whilst working to achieve the best outcomes for our communities.

You will work with experienced and settled teams, holding an interesting and varied caseload. You will have the opportunity to take a blended contact, working from home as well as working from Fountain Court, our newly renovated, open planned and modern office. The office environment has an excellent kitchen and dining area and we encourage staff to take a break and eat together at lunch time. New staff joining Middlesbrough Council can expect a warm welcome from the team. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other adult social care teams and our homeless team who share our office space.
