Full Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic midwife who will provide clinical and managerial midwifery leadership with the maternity unit. They will be based in clinical practice, responsible for ensuring that standards of care are always upheld. Working with the Matrons and ward managers the postholder will take overall responsibility for ensuring that flow of clinical activities and staff deployment as and when required is maintained within the maternity unit.
The individual should be visible and accessible to women and their families and staff, ensuring all women and their families could seek information, help, and support or to communicate problematic or celebratory issues. To achieve this, the expectation is that the postholder will be rostered on a 7-day rota to include weekends.
The post will be based at Royal London Hospital although the role will also involve supporting and working closely with other maternity sites within Barts Health.
Contribute to discharge planning by liaising between inpatient maternity services, NICU and Community Midwifery Service.
Have overall responsibility for ensuring that flow of activities is maintained throughout the service.
The post holder will work closely with the multi-disciplinary teams within Barts Health and the LMNS in facilitating In-utero and Ex-utero transfers in a timely manner
The post holder will demonstrate clinical expertise, competency in practice and be a role model.
