Full Job Description

The post holder, within the framework of Clinical Governance, will lead the team in delivering the quality, governance and safety strategy in Women's and ensure that the policies and procedures are in place to enable risks to be identified and managed appropriately. The post holder will implement the risk management strategy which supports internal reporting and communications across the Trust and external agencies. They will be instrumental in monitoring any risk issues and promote and encourage safety awareness. They will be using learning from incidents to inform and develop clinical practices and communicate the learning across Women's Services working in collaboration with the cross site teams and system partners . They will provide professional direction and leadership to the staff in Women's Services. As part of the Midwifery Management Team, she/he will also participate in Senior Midwifery Management on call rota., The post holder will work within the senior midwifery management team Key working Relationships:
+ Resolve complaints as they arise through face to face communication as necessary and, when appropriate, investigate complaints relevant to remit and write responses and develop actions
+ Liaise with senior/managerial staff to bring to their attention any problems
+ Contribute to business, professional and strategic planning within the Division and the organisation
+ Ensure that staff support systems are in place across areas of responsibility including access to professional midwifery advocate
+ Participate in the maternity services 24 hour manager on call cross site rota in line with service needs, and support operationally for the service if requested at times of escalation only., + Cross site Governance lead midwife
+ Head/Deputy Head of Midwifery
+ Matrons within Women's
+ Consultant Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Paediatric Team
+ Women and their families
+ Maternity Neonatal Voices Partnership
+ Professional Midwifery Advocates
+ Trust Clinical Governance Team
+ Ensure all staff have access to, and act within, Trust/departmental policies
+ Be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the development of all staff across areas of responsibility, especially in relation to learning from incidents.
+ Ensure adherence to reporting requirements for incident reporting, duty of candour and internal/external stakeholder organisations.
