Full Job Description

Our defence sector client requires an SC or DV cleared Safety Manager / Safety Engineer with Air domain background and experience that is able to act as a 'controlling' mind in advising Senior Safety accountable and responsible personnel on delivery of safety programmes and artefacts. This is a contract role initially until October 2024 with scope to extend. The role can be delivered remotely but there is a requirement to be onsite in Bristol for 2-3 days per week.,

  • Deployed within the Air Domain, the Safety Manager will be required to:

  • + Deliver against the overarching programme and established safety management plan.
    + Evolve and advise the safety programme to de-risk delivery and capitalise on opportunities.
    + Work for assigned delivery teams to produce safety artefacts to time and quality requirements.
  • The Safety Manager shall advise the DT to ensure the programme will deliver artefacts to demonstrate that policy, legislation, and defence regulation have been met and that assets are demonstrably safe.

  • The Safety Manager shall be the DT focal point. As a result, will be required to represent the DT at required safety engagements, including regulatory interface, and can brief up and down.

  • The Safety Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day activity, delivering against agreed activity and tasks.

    Practitioner level experience of safety management systems and processes (POSMS).

  • Practitioner level experience of leading air safety management tasks.

  • Practitioner level experience (Plan creation and update) of:

  • + Safety and Environmental Management Plans.
    + Safety Case / Safety Case Report.
    + Hazard Logs
    + Hazard identification and assessment.
    + Operation of safety review meetings.
  • Type Certification Experience

  • Working within Air Domain

  • Working with DE&S Airworthiness Team (DAT)

  • Fault and Event Tree (FTA / ETA).

  • BowTie assessment.

  • Safety arguments (CAE / GSN).

  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulation and standards and defence policy.

  • ASPIRE.

  • ASSERT.
