Full Job Description

As a Water Sampler, you'll be on the front line of water safety, quality and delivery, ensuring that customers receive the very best when they turn on their tap.

What you'll be doing:

You will spend some of your time out and about visiting water treatment works, reservoirs, and other Affinity Water sites collecting water samples across our operational area between Guildford and North London and delivering to the laboratory in Staines.

You'll perform routine, non-routine and random sampling across our supply area, working independently to complete your daily schedule. There will be some cold-calling to take sample readings in residential areas, and so you'll be comfortable with entering customer properties.

There's plenty of driving involved and so you'll be a confident driver who's prepared to travel long distances. You must have a full/clean UK/Manual driving licence. Travelling between sites couldn't be easier as you'll be given a company van to get yourself around.

What you'll need:

  • You'll be excellent at managing your time, meeting deadlines and be comfortable working alone.

  • Experience in water or the broader utilities industry is beneficial, this isn't essential as we'll invest the time to ensure you're up to speed with industry knowledge and best practise.

  • When you're not outdoors collecting samples, you'll be based at the Labs in Staines completing key administration tasks such as data input and recording samples into our internal systems.

  • Confident using core IT programs such as MS Excel.

  • As this is a customer facing role you will need to have excellent communication skills and experience of working with the public.
  • This role also includes participating in a weekend and out-of-hours standby rota to ensure someone is always on hand when there's an operational issue. (This will be a separate payment on top of your base salary.)

You can find out what it's like to work at Affinity Water through our career site https://www.affinitywatercareers.co.uk/ where our colleagues share their career development stories and you can get a feel for our company culture.

Salary:£25,091 - £28,452 (dependent on skills and experience).

  • Hours of work: 08:00am - 16:00pm (Monday - Thursday) 08:00am - 15:30pm (Friday)

  • Learning and development opportunities, including mentoring and a range of formal courses and open learning resources.

  • Entry into the company annual bonus scheme.

  • Annual leave from 24 days rising with length of service, and the option to purchase up to 5 extra days.

  • A 'Celebration Day' in addition to public holidays that people can use to celebrate a religious festival or other occasion that is important to them.

  • A generous 'double match pension scheme' that doubles the contributions you make (company contribution capped at 12%)

  • We offer a range of family benefits including enhanced Maternity, Adoption, Paternity, Shared Parental Leave, Fertility Support Leave and up to 5 full or 10 half days of paid Carers Leave.

  • Menopause policy and Reasonable Adjustment policy to help everyone perform at their best.

  • Access to our Wellbeing Centre with support for looking after your physical and mental health.

  • Discounts at a Range of Retail Outlets and on Dental and Medical Insurance through our Tap4Perks scheme.

  • Up to 4 Affinity days a year to volunteer in the community.

  • Life Assurance.
