Full Job Description
The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role. We are looking for Postgraduate students who would be interested in taking on the role of Saturday Club Tutor to lead one of our 6 National Saturday Clubs for 13 - 16 year olds. Fashion & Business club has been running in Manchester Fashion Institute for 6 years now. Aiming to introduce young people with a unique opportunity to understand that there are more aspects to studying fashion than just designing clothes. The club aims to explore broad creative themes, develop understanding of the fashion industry, consider people's ethical beliefs and views on sustainability, ethical fashion, and waste, while also learning to share ideas, collaborate and communicate thoughts creatively and through collaborative activity. We are looking for a student who is currently undertaking some form of Postgraduate study in a range of disciplines and areas across Manchester Fashion Institute. This can be taught or research based. We would love to hear from you if you are interested in delivering taught content, working with young people and gaining hands on experience in the production and delivery of a fun, creative and energy filled workshop programme. You will be expected to work Saturdays and your club will also take trips, especially towards the end of the project in June when we go to London for a big celebration. The project is a sizeable commitment, you will be in charge of designing and delivering the club that will span 16+ weeks on Saturdays, at Manchester Met University. You will join a National organisation and take leadership of a creative and fulfilling project, coordinating directly with the National Saturday Club Trust and working as part of a team of tutors (all delivering different clubs) and a club coordinator., Hours of Work: 4 hrs per week Details of briefing/training (if relevant): You will be briefed by the hiring manager before beginning the role. You will be required to undertake training around Safeguarding, and facilitation of workshops. This role is only open to current Manchester Met Students who meet the following requirements - Essential
- Currently undertaking a Postgraduate degree (taught or research-based) at Manchester Fashion Institute in a relevant discipline.
- Keen to plan and run workshops which demonstrate the key elements of the fashion industry.
- Strong organisational and leadership skills to manage a 16+ week programme.
- Passionate about working with young people and fostering their creativity.
- Able to commit to delivering workshops on Saturdays for 16+ weeks, including occasional trips (e.g., to London).
- An interest in collaboration, sharing practice and working as part of a team. Desirable
- Familiarity with the National Saturday Club framework or similar organisations.
- Experience or an interest working/ mentoring with young people in some way, and the ability to support others.
