If you are an experienced Network Modeller who is looking for a role that will provide a challenge and career opportunity to work with the UK's largest Networks, then this is the role for you!

As part of a small and highly specialist team you will build and deliver large and complex E2E Network Models in order to optimise the RMG network.

This is a high profile role impacting the long term direction of Network within Royal Mail.

About the role

This is a specialist role in a large and complex environment requiring a high level of expertise in advanced data, modelling techniques and approaches using Supply Chain Guru (SCG) network modelling.

The role supports a critical large scale, complex and multi-year Transformation.

You will :

  • Be an expert on SCG modelling approaches, architecture best practice & process

  • Work closely with Operations Program Senior leads and Sponsors to identify, model and quantify opportunity

  • Drive the conceptualization of real-life and data into models. Translate modelling and technical concepts into insights and recommendations

  • Build, maintain & iterate models. Maintain model documentation, assumptions and data sources

  • Apply and develop leading and new Modelling techniques and functionality

  • Develop relationships with key modelling partners, including Coupa and Modelling Community, We have the assets, the infrastructure and the scale that others don't, yet we are a big part of the communities we operate in, making billions of precious deliveries each year.


  • We are responsible for the largest B2B customer database in the UK and are one of the largest employers in the UK, providing one in every 194 jobs.

    An operation of this size needs a strong support network, and the HR, Legal, Finance, IT, Risk & Governance, Customer Experience, Sales & Marketing departments are all integral to helping us to utilise the latest technology and business approaches to optimise, automate and digitise our operations.

    You will already have a high level of expertise with Network Modelling, ideally with several years of experience using SCG (or similar software) including Accreditation to design, develop and deliver complex models.,
  • Have experience working within a logistics operation ideally in mail and parcel or network operations

  • Have 3+ years' experience handling large data sets demonstrating strong quantitative background including numerical modelling

  • Have a further 3+ years working with the design and improvement of highly complex and large scale networks

  • Have experience of optimization logic, structuring models and documenting outputs and insights

  • Can demonstrate experience working within a team (ideally with some management experience) and working pro-actively and with autonomy

  • Have experience of stakeholder engagement & communication. Ability to explain technical subjects to non-specialists

    Competitive salary, £4,200 Car allowance plus Healthcare, 18% annual bonus potential with 27.5 days annual leave including bank holidays rising with serve and a company pension scheme with highly competitive contribution rates
