Full Job Description

This role is to deliver a co designed menu of support to professionals within the boroughs of Surrey. To deliver a pilot programme to parents and/or carers in schools for a 5 week period. To deliver ADHD training to groups of professionals throughout the duration of the contract. NAS will be delivering ASC specalised training to professionals, and Eikon will be delivering SEND Advice and Guidance training to professionals creating an extensive menu of training to Mindworks/Surrey professionals. Our Barnardo's ADHD training day is a pre designed programme held by Barnardo's and training and guidance for this delivery will be given once appointed. This training is also offered to schools as part of another Surrey and Borders NHS Trust Contract. The role for this service includes being a key member of the School Based Needs Cluster groups for four boroughs in Surrey. Barnardo's are taking leadership of: Mole Valley, Epsom and Ewell, Reigate and Banstead and Tandridge. The successful applicant will need to be able to travel around these boroughs of the county as some consultations could be in person with professionals or CYPF within school settings in these boroughs., The practitioners appointed will provide impactful, school-based support to parents and carers of children and young people, and offer consultancy, professional training and advice to school staff, school-based needs teams and system wide partners. The aim is to improve the knowledge and confidence of those supporting children, young people and their families with additional and potentially neurodivergent needs, at an early stage. The role for colleagues within the Barnardo's team will be predominantly working within Mole Valley, Epsom and Ewell, Reigate and Banstead and Tandridge, but at times will require travel across Surrey. Access to a car is essential. This service has been funded until 31/01/2026, or until financial envelop ends. Care and dedication within the team and management, as well as in partnership with Eikon and NAS will be taken to secure future funding for this service to continue past this point. Should this not be successful Barnardo's employees will go into consultation and their contract might reach an end. Key areas of Responsibility

  • To actively encourage and facilitate collaborative ways of working with all stakeholders.
  • To be proactive in terms of outreach to enable all parents to access the service, especially those families who may be deemed as hard to reach.
  • To be able to manage own diary and ensure effective use of time across the variety of tasks within the role.
  • Tosupport the Barnardo's team by contacting and arranging all consultations and training sessions, carrying out corresponding administrative tasks with all stakeholders
  • To work collaboratively with schools and to support them in identifying training needs.
  • Providing case-based consultations to schools and professionals within Cluster teams.
  • To attend fortnightly cluster meetings.
  • Where possible, to involve children, young people and their parents/carers in the co-production of programmes, activities and services.
  • To deliver a place-based programme of support to parents and carers in schools, within the clusters in which you are based.
  • To achieve contractual targets and use agreed systems for outcomes and reporting.
  • Adhere to school and organisation safeguarding processes.
  • To deliver online and in person training to partnership colleagues.
  • To contribute to the creation and maintenance of a database system within the cluster teams in which you are based.
  • To record and collect data with various tools and use this to evaluate the effectiveness of services.
  • To keep accurate records of individual engagement, evidence of change and celebrate progress with children and young people.
  • To provide, record and report the appropriate data to ensure support programmes can be accurately monitored and evaluated.
  • To provide written case studies as evidence of the effectiveness of individual interventions.
  • To work as part of a team and attend team meetings, training events and participate fully in one to one, peer and group supervision.
  • To work co-operatively and under the management of Barnardo's staff to ensure the highest quality of delivery and support.
  • To work within Barnardo's internal policies, safeguarding and data protection regulations
  • To assist with the development and progression of the service by adhering to all communication requests and assisting with peer progression development when requested through case supervision.
  • To be responsible for equipment/resources linked to service delivery.
  • To promote, monitor and maintain health safety and security in the working environment.

    Do you have a strong, up to date, understanding of Neurodevelopmental Conditions? Especially ADHD and ASC
  • Are you able to support children and young people as well as professionals?
  • Are you able to communicate effectively sharing your professional judgement and advice in appropriate ways depending on your audience?
  • Do you have experience working with children, young people, parents and carers and professionals?, Knowledge of neurodevelopmental conditions and SEND
  • Access to a car and business car insurance for travel to multiple locations of work
  • Knowledge of child/young person development
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and awareness of promoting the welfare of children
  • Minimum of 3 years experience of working with ND young people and their families
  • A strong understanding of the challenges that neurodivergent children, young people and families face, as well as schools
  • Experience of working 1:1, in Groups and Online
  • Ability to present to large groups
  • High standards of written and verbal communication
  • Accurately and clearly record case notes deploying the necessary standard of writing and IT skills
  • Demonstrate understanding of the cultural and economic diversity of the area, and tailor the service appropriately to ensure all parents can access it
  • Evidence of working with a range of professionals to support neurodivergent young people and their families
