Full Job Description

The position of School Business Assistant will be based at Taddington and Priestcliffe C of E Primary School. As a small school, the contribution of each staff member is invaluable, and we are committed to ensuring that every position within our team supports our core mission: fostering a nurturing environment for teaching and learning for all our children and their families. The role is initially 4 days to be worked Tuesday-Friday over 38 weeks per year with an additional 2 weeks to be directed as necessary by the leadership team, this may include INSET days / half-term hours and clerk to governor duties which involves up to 5 meetings per year to take place outside of school hours. The role of a School Business Assistant, while primarily clerical and administrative, requires a candidate who embodies our warm, caring ethos and demonstrates a genuine commitment to being a team player. We believe it is crucial that our next School Business Assistant not only excels in their administrative duties but also understands the significance of their position within the wider context of our school community. We are seeking an individual who will promote our values and exhibit a sense of 'otherness'-someone who goes beyond the basic requirements of the role and is willing to adapt and be flexible to meet the diverse needs of our school. This includes, from time to time, the opportunity to support our children directly, which we see as a rewarding and enjoyable aspect of the position.   • Managing administrative tasks, such as maintaining school records and handling correspondence.
  • Managing the school Parent Pay system
  • Writing letters to parents, and managing school communication systems including the school website and email/text correspondence
  • Maintaining and updating the school Single Central Record
  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and other statutory requirements.
  • Attending evening meetings when directed, to perform the role of Clerk to Governors.

  • Experienced in administrative roles (school experience is an advantage but not essential).
  • Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Office and Google Forms, Docs and Sheets
  • Organised and detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills.
  • Passionate about contributing to the success of our school community.
  • Keen to support children as well as successfully balancing their clerical/ administrative roles.
