Full Job Description

Rubery and West Heath Nursery Schools are two successful Maintained Nursery Schools in Birmingham, which federated in 2022. We have children aged from 2 to 4 years serving the community in Rubery, West Heath and the surrounding localities. We are rated good schools, (Ofsted), where everyone works hard as a team to deliver the best possible education and outcomes for our children. With the upcoming changes to BCC schools finance and HR, we are seeking to appoint a new School Business Manager to work as a key member of the school leadership teams. This is a new position which could start immediately. The School Business Manager will contribute to strategic development as well as leading and managing functions such as financial management, HR, Premises, Administration and Health and Safety. We welcome applications from those with a strong finance and personal background and experience of working in a school environment. The successful candidate will:

  • play a key role in overseeing the non-teaching aspects of school development, supporting the school in providing an exceptional learning environment and experience for our children and community
  • be a member of the senior leadership team, taking the lead responsibility for the strategic development and operation of the business functions of our school which includes financial resource management, ICT and information management, facility and premises management, health and safety, human resources support as well as statutory compliance

    have experience of leading and managing admin teams and act as an exemplary role model with experience of appraising and developing others
  • be successful in financial management including income generation initiatives
  • be able to communicate effectively with staff and visitors and work competently with a range of professionals
  • be self-motivated and have personal drive to complete tasks to required timescales and quality standards

  • Visits to the school (West Heath site) will be welcome on Tuesday 5 November 1.30pm to 4:00pm and Wednesday 6 November 9.30am to 4:00pm This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016). Therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
