Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced people manager to head up our busy School Crossing Patrol team!

The aim of the School Crossing Patrol Service is to ensure that children and adults can travel easily and safely whilst on their journeys to and from school. The service operates at 250 sites across Staffordshire.

You will be managing the service which covers the County of Staffordshire and travel around the County will be required.

No two days are the same in this exciting and challenging role as you assist in providing a safe and efficient School Crossing Patrol service.,

  • Lead the delivery of the School Crossing Patrol service and ensure the legislative requirements set out within the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 are met.

  • Manage the School Crossing Patrol budget (in the region of £1.3m).

  • Develop and implement the County Council's School Crossing Patrol Protocol in line with national standards, guidance and best practice.

  • Oversee the recruitment and ongoing training of School Crossing Patrols in line with legislative requirements and national guidelines.

  • Have responsibility for the management of a large team of remote workers (more than 200 School Crossing Patrols).

  • Have responsibility for the implementation of robust health and safety processes and procedures to meet the specific demands of the service.

    You'll need to have extensive experience in managing a large remote team, with the skills to motivate and support your team., Recognised management qualification or demonstrable experience of staff management

  • Understanding of the principles of traffic management and road safety

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Drive, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence

  • Ability to adapt and manage change
