Full Job Description
Located in the heart of the Northwest close to Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire, St Helens is a transformational Council which is passionate and ambitious for the communities we support. We provide a wide range of local authority services to the residents, businesses, schools, and visitors to the borough. We can only do this because of our highly valued, highly skilled workforce.
Working together, our workplace vision and values guide our organisation, and the contribution of our workforce is key to our culture journey. Employees with us receive a wide range of benefits including well-being in work, financial benefits, ways of working and learning and development support.
We have a vacancy for a School Crossing Patrol Operative for St Marys Primary School, Newton le Willows.
The hours of work are 5 hours per week. The times of work are Monday to Friday 8.30am - 9.00am and 3.15pm - 3.45pm (variable to meet the needs of the service).
Our School Crossing patrol operatives are essential to keeping children, members of local communities and pedestrians safe.
Operatives are fundamental to ensuring the safety of children and other pedestrians when crossing in designated positions in congested areas throughout the borough.
The post involves daily responsibilities including operating hazard warning lights on commencement of duty, controlling pedestrian movement while assisting them across the road and reporting any traffic incidents. This role requires key communication skills to successfully carry out the key responsibilities of the role.
All our Operatives will be given full training in their role, empowering them to use the Health and Safety procedures as outlined in the School Crossing Patrol guidance booklet which will be available to our operatives.
Experience is not necessary for these posts as full training will be provided.
This post is subject to Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
