School Improvement Advisors

This role is all about supporting and enabling schools on their continuous improvement journey.

Do you have significant experience of school improvement and a desire to support and enable schools to a make a difference in Birmingham?

You would be working within a team that is passionate about supporting and enhancing the quality of education for all children and young people in Birmingham.

Birmingham's School Improvement team that sits within Children and Families Directorate is growing as part of the council's long-term commitment to children and young people to improve their lives and support their families.

As part of our new balanced system where all school leaders have a voice, we are looking for highly experienced and relational professionals to join the school improvement team. This will be a fast-paced role within a changing landscape which will require energy, enthusiasm and tenacity to support the successful development of schools across the City.

We would be open to colleagues interested in either full-time or part-time roles (0.5FTE)

Reporting to the Head of School Improvement, you will have expertise in one or more of the following designations:

• Early Years (with some Primary and/or Infant) Schools


• Primary Schools


• Secondary (with some Primary and/or Junior) Schools


• Special Schools


You will be responsible for providing exceptional leadership and work with schools, Trusts, and external partners such as OFSTED and the DfE to identify areas for improvement and provide strategic guidance to develop:

• School leadership


• School self-evaluation


• Effective support and intervention, including school-to-school capacity


Your proven impact leading improvement in professional practice and service delivery for children, young people and families will form the basis of your credibility in this role. You will be excellent at communicating with, and motivating, colleagues at all levels within the service.

You will be used to working to deadlines and be adept at managing a number of different priorities simultaneously. You will thrive in a role that requires you to support and enable all stakeholders to deliver change and improvements that make a positive difference to the lives of children, young people and families.
