Full Job Description
We need an enthusiastic and passionate School Learning and Resource Centre Coordinator to foster a love for reading and support literacy initiatives across Folkestone Academy. You will actively participate in the Turner Reading Projects and initiatives to encourage Reading for Pleasure. You will manage the dady to day operations of the schools Learning and Resource Centre ensuring it is an engaging and accessible space for pupils and staff. The promotion of reading at secondary level is an exciting project and will provide a good opportunity to be part of something that is innovative and rewarding. Previous experience is preferable but not essential.
The successful candidate will:-
+ Contribute towards the Academy's and Trust's vision and ethos
+ Enjoy completing their work in a professional and positive manner, relish solving problems and take pride in helping people
+ Have a genuine passion and belief in the reading potential of every student
+ Work with groups of students to support reading through interventions
+ Value the importance of student choice in relation to their reading
+ Have a commitment to promoting reading to all students
+ Have strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
+ Demonstrate honesty and integrity
+ Be highly motivated and have a flexible approach towards work and working hours
+ Have knowledge of and experience of how Learning and Resource Centres work: their system, their organisation and the vital role they play in secondary schools is desirable.
+ Have a knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System desirable but training will be given
+ GCSE English and Maths - Essential. A Level- Desirable.
