Full Job Description

School Secretary

To Start October 2024

We are looking to appoint a full-time School Secretary at our popular co-ed school in the heart of Notting Hill to join a highly committed, friendly and passionate team.

The successful candidate will have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and have good organisational and administrative skills. At the centre of everything that goes on in school, duties will be varied, including looking after the children's needs, supporting colleagues and parents and being the first point of call for all visitors. Good personal presentation, a friendly disposition and a willingness to participate in school life are considered important qualities for this position.

The role will also include other additional administrative responsibilities which will be tailored to the interests of the successful candidate. These could include: being responsible for the procurement of supplies and goods throughout the school, liaising closely with the Finance Department to ensure budgets are reviewed and updated regularly, or; coordinating and booking school trips and organising pupil certificates and prizes.

Notting Hill Prep is a 'Thinking School', a title which reflects its intelligent approach to education and its devotion to instilling in its children the values of resilience, creativity and responsibility, which it holds dear. We teach children not merely to learn, but to learn how to learn. The successful applicant will share the school's aspirations.

This role will involve contact with, and responsibility for, children and will amount to 'regulated activity'.

Previous school experience is not essential but the candidate must have excellent written English and strong secretarial, organisational and computer skills.

The salary will be circa £25,000 per annum, depending on experience plus an additional responsibility allowance of £3,000. We offer free school lunches, optional medical insurance and 6 weeks holiday to be taken in school holidays.

Please click the 'Apply' button to submit your application form.

The closing date for completed applications is 9am on 1st October 2024. Interviews will take place shortly after the closing date. The interview will include an in-tray exercise.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the DBS.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are 'spent' unless they are 'protected' under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

NHP is an equal opportunities employer.
