Full Job Description

Patcham High School is looking to appoint a skilled handyperson who will act as part of the Site Team for the school. We are looking for someone that is experienced in building maintenance or who has a trade or is willing and committed to learning these skills. The person should be passionate about working within the school and wider community to both improve the appearance and safety of the school premises and experience for students, staff and visitors. Previous experience of working in a school would be desirable, but is not essential. The successful candidate will work alongside the site team and School Business Manager in all aspects of building maintenance and carry out a range of duties to provide a high standard. Duties will include key holder duties, painting, general maintenance and repairs, providing input to risk assessments and other aspect of health & safety. You should: · Be approachable and committed to providing a good standard of work; · Be able to work as directed and use own initiative when needed; · Be able to work both as a team or individually; · Have good interpersonal and communication skills; · Be flexible, reliable and willing to learn. You will be required to be flexible to complete tasks and attend site outside of your usual hours. These duties could include and are not limited to unlocking and locking up at weekends, evenings and other general caretaking duties. The hours of work are 37 per week, 52 weeks per year, with 25 days annual leave. The successful candidate will be required to work a shift pattern with two other staff members. Shifts will operate on a rolling basis covering the school opening times between 6.00am-9.00pm, with weekend working between 8.00am and 2.00pm. The salary range for this post is LGA Pay Scale 4b Point 11-12, £27,269-£27,711 per annum We offer a generous pension scheme, staff discounts available through the school, travel to work and cycle to work schemes, gym membership, CPD opportunities and more.
