Full Job Description
School Staff Nurses work as part of a team led by our Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (SCPHNs) to deliver a range of interventions to improve the health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families to:
- Help parents develop and sustain a strong bond with children
- Encourage care that keeps children healthy and safe
- Reduce childhood obesity by promoting healthy eating and physical activity
- Identify health issues early, so support can be provided in a timely manner
- Make sure children are prepared for and supported in education settings
- Identify and help children, young people and families with problems that might affect their chances later in life The Kent School Health service works with schools, parents and carers as well as other professionals like health visitors or community paediatricians to prevent ill health in children, families and the wider community, support safeguarding of children and young people and address any health needs to make sure every child reaches their potential. Young people do not have to be within school to access our support.
