Full Job Description

As a Schools Engagement Officer you will work with the award-winning Arts & Culture Service to develop, deliver and monitor a range of ambitious cultural programmes for schools and families within London Borough of Culture. Your support will be crucial to the Cultural Programme Manager for Schools & Young People who you will report to and help to lead on these programmes.

You will work on large scale arts projects engaging schools and teachers. This will include performing arts showcases for school groups, art exhibitions for Primary Schools, the Wandsworth Heritage Festival, our creative CPD programme for teachers and managing portfolio funded projects to name a few.

Your role will be key to manage partnerships with schools while working closely with the Programme Office. As you will be looking after an arts and culture programme, some evening and weekend work will be required.

Hybrid working: Depending on service needs, full time office working will be required to meet project demands, this will vary week to week. Typically, a minimum of 2 days office based, including every Wednesday, and the remaining days home working. This will include working in project spaces across the borough.

Are you a creative professional with experience of delivering large scale engagement projects with young people?,

  • Excellent project management and organisational skills (project management qualification is not required but experience is essential).

  • Good creative facilitation skills, with experience of leading creative sessions with children and young people, preferably within a classroom setting.

  • Strong communications skills, particularly in partnership working with other organisations.

  • Knowledge and understanding of education practices and the UK school system.

  • Great budget management skills and previous experience.

  • Detail focussed with good evaluation skills and basic understanding of data.
